Description:

The revolver has the distinctive LeMat nine-shot cylinder barrel with attached smoothbore "grape-shot" barrel for firing buckshot, full octagon revolver barrel with loading lever on the left side, two position hammer and fixed lanyard ring in the butt. The top barrel flat is marked "Systeme Le Mat Bte s.g.d.g. Paris" flanked by a light engraving. The right side of the barrel is stamped with the LeMat trademark: a five-pointed star above the letters "LM". The complete serial number is marked on the right side rear barrel flat, right side of the frame below the cylinder and on the cylinder. Strictly of foreign manufacture, the LeMat is known to be a favorite personal handgun of a few high ranking Confederate officers, Jeb Stuart to name one. The unusual design, mechanical features and the fact that it was invented by a Southerner make this a desirable addition to any C.S.A. collection.
