Description:

One of an estimated 1,200 manufactured between 1855-1857 this pistol belongs in an advanced Smith & Wesson and Winchester collections. It has two piece walnut grips with heavy varnish and over 90% bright, re-nickeled finish with some light pitting. The top of the barrel has "THE VOLCANIC/ARMS CO./PATENT NEW HAVEN CONN. FEB. 14. 1854". The matching serial number is on the lever, underside of the grips, and on the grip strap under the left grip panel. One of the patented self-contained bullets is also included.
