OD - VERY GOOD- all original parts; none to 30% original finish; original metal surfaces smooth with all edges sharp; clear lettering, numerals and design on metal; wood slightly scratched or bruised.

Description:

Manufactured in 1874, this is a Third Model 1866 lever action rifle with a nice custom floral scroll and punch dot engraving. The rifle has a blade front sight and a ladder rear sight on a barrel marked "WINCHESTER'S-REPEATING-ARMS. NEW HAVEN, CT./KING'S-IMPROVEMENT-PATENTED MARCH 29, 1866 OCTOBER 16, 1860." The brass forend cap is engraved with a floral blossom around the screw on both sides. The receiver is brass and features a scroll and punch dot engraving on the sides, side plates, top, underside and upper tang. The brass cartridge elevator is engraved with a dot and checkered pattern with scrollwork. The lower tang is marked with the serial number along with the initials "TS". Blue barrel and magazine tube and casehardened remaining parts. Full length magazine tube, metal forend tip and brass buttplate with compartment. Mounted with a nicely figured forearm and straight grip stock.
