The receiver is engraved with a floral scroll and floral blossom pattern on a dot background with a blank inscription banner. The scrollwork extends to the buttplate tang. A folding leaf rear sight graduated to 1000 yards is mounted on top of the receiver. The rifle has a blade front sight. The top flat of the contemporary barrel is marked "HENRY'S PATENT OCT. 16, 1860/MANUFACT'D BY THE NEWHAVEN ARMS CO. NEWHAVEN CT." ahead of the rear sight dovetail slot, and the serial number is marked on the top flat at the breech. Mounted with a smooth straight grip stock with brass crescent buttplate.
