OB - EXCELLENT- all original parts; over 80% original finish; sharp lettering, numerals and design on metal; unmarred wood.

NPRF - NON-PROFESSIONALLY REFINISHED/COLD BLUE, ETC.

Description:

Manufactured in 1890. The grip has an "1890" dated "SEB" cartouche on the left and "2/[crossed signal flags]/NY," "56," and a "RAC" cartouche on the right, and the butt has the rack number "2/SC/56." The revolver falls within the range listed on page 85 of "Colt Cavalry & Artillery Revolvers. . .a Continuing Study" by Fenn and Kopec in the list of New York Militia issues. The Signal Corps were part of the state national guard and were first organized in 1886.
