Description:

1) The Paul Weyersberg & Co. etched dagger has a scabbard and silver portepee. Condition: Fine with the leather bolster and top fitting of the release button are absent. The exposed brass has an aged patina. The blade is very good with nearly all of the etching visible. 2) U-588 mug. Condition: Very good with some minor chipping on the bottom edge. 3) U-98 and U-177 mug marked with "Korvettentapitan/Robert Gysae." Condition: Fine with some edge wear and crackling. The included research indicates Corvette Captain Robert Gysae was commander of U-98 starting in December 31, 1841, and then U-177 starting in May 31, 1943. Near the end of the war he commanded the only tank destroyer unit in the Kreigsmarine. He remained in the German navy after the war until he retired in 1970. He is responsible for sinking 23-25 ships during WWII including the H.M.S. Salopain (marked on the mug).
