Description:

Receiver manufactured in 1904, with an 11 1/2" long blued steel spike bayonet, "SA" marked 30-03 chambered barrel with early style "drilled" front sight base, straight bolt handle, "JSA/1905" marked stock, and a brown leather sling. The bayonet, chambering and bolt configuration were all features eliminated early in the service life of the 1903 rifle, and surviving examples are difficult to find. A fine example of the very beginning of the development of the 1903 Springfield.
