Converted from the Norwegian Jarmann Model 1884 military rifle, capable of firing both standard ammunition and harpoons. Includes a large wood storage case with an interior plaque marked "SIL ROHU/(Late A.I.F)/QUALITY FIREARMS AND/FISHING TACKLE/143 ELIZABETH STREET/SYDNEY". The case includes five steel harpoons, 171 10.15mm blanks for firing harpoons (mostly in tins), and 22 rounds of 10.15x60mmR rifle ammunition. Consignor attributes the harpoon gun as being owned by renowned author and sportsman Zane Gray, who often fished in Australia and New Zealand.
