Manufactured in 1937. Developed in 1942, the M1903A1 (M1941 Sniper Rifle) was born out of a necessity for a dedicated sniper's weapon with superior accuracy, durability, and ease of maintenance. The majority of M1941 sniper rifles were built using already existing U.S.M.C. National Match Model 1903 rifles that were on hand at the Philadelphia U.S.M.C. Quartermaster Depot. These rifles served as the primary Marine Corps sniper rifles from the time they were developed through the end of World War II and even into the Korean War. It features a star gauged barrel marked "SA/flaming bomb/4-37", correct altered upper handguard with the cutout for the front scope base, blued bolt hand numbered to the gun, and a pistol grip C type stock with checkered trapdoor buttplate. The rifle is fitted with a J. Unertl telescopic sight marked "J.UNERTL/U.S.M.C. - SNIPER" with buffer spring and screw in steel lens caps.
