Marked "JS&Co" for the U.S. retailer John Sayre of New York. Partially nitre blued with gilt inlaid patriotic designs on the first third of the blade. Simple guard with ribbed grip. Leather and brass scabbard. This type of sword was popular during the Mexican American War. Good, with some oxidation on the blade, patina on the brass, chipped grip, and some cracking of the leather scabbard.
