Factory letter lists rifle with 25 1/2" octagon barrel in .44-40 caliber, blue finish and "fancy stock, polished and checkered" when shipped on Dec. 13, 1883 to Colt's London Agency, London, England. Only 3,810 Burgess rifles were manufactured.
