Rare Identified Civil War Sharps New Model 1859 Percussion Saddle Ring Carbine Issued to a 16th Pennsylvania Cavalry Trooper

Includes information from the consignor indicating this carbine was identified in National Archive records as issued to Samuel H. Sanders of Company L of the 16th Pennsylvania Cavalry on December 15, 1862, and used at Gettysburg. He was later issued a Spencer in its place by early 1865. Sanders mustered out as a 2nd lieutenant.
