OE - GOOD - some minor replacement parts; metal smoothly rusted or lightly pitted in places, cleaned; principal lettering, numerals and design on metal legible; lightly scratched, bruised or minor cracks repaired; in good working order.

Description:

This musket is shown and discussed on page 51 of "American Military Shoulder Arms, Vol. 3" by George Moller who noted, "About 1,300 flintlock muskets altered with Remington-Maynard components and sporting hammers were purchased by the City of Philadelphia in 1861." "1856" dated lock and "CITY/OF/PHILADA/A.W" marked breech. Also marked "GTN HIST SOC" for a historical society on the barrel and stock. Includes a socket bayonet and leather sling.
