The makers have kindly confirmed that this gun was sold on August 24, 1833, to an R. Bosanquet for £55. The records note the gauge as 16 bore and the barrel length as 32 inches. With browned Damascus barrels signed “JAMES PURDEY 314 1/2 OXFORD STREET LONDON”. Casehardened standing breech and bar locks each signed “PURDEY”. Furniture including casehardened trigger plate and trigger guard, and blued heel plate and ramrod. Border and scroll engraved throughout. Figured walnut half-length stock with checkered grip and forearm, inset with a squared silver initial escutcheon at the wrist. London proof marks. In later fitted leather case. 14 15/16" LOP.
