The maker’s records confirm that this shotgun was completed in 1894 and sold to a Lt. Col. H.E. Hudson. Known as “Wristbreakers”, this action incorporates Frederick Beesley’s 1884 patents (nos. 425 and 14488), the rights to which had been purchased by H.A.A. Thorn, Lancaster’s then owner. With browned fine Damascus barrels with concave rib signed “CHARLES LANCASTER. 151. NEW BOND ST. LONDON. PATENT EJECTOR”. Bright action signed “CHARLES LANCASTER/LONDON” on each side and with blued toplever numbered “2”, automatic safety with silver inlaid “SAFE”, blued cover plate and blued trigger guard. Bright back action sidelocks each signed “CHARLES LANCASTER / PATENT”. Border and scroll engraved throughout. Figured 14 3/4" straight hand stock with checkered butt, grip and forearm.
