Description:

"1844" dated lock. Approximately 450 manufactured in total c. 1844-45. Model 1841 Cadet muskets are described on pages 184-188 of George D. Moller's book "American Military Shoulder Arms Volume III" with this exact musket pictured on page 187 next to the caption, "In 1848, Springfield Armory altered twenty of West Point's cadet muskets for service as engineers' cadet muskets. This musket has a 34" barrel [originally 40"]." Includes US socket bayonet and reproduction leather sling. Provenance: The George Moller Collection
