Altered using the "Belgian" method with a nipple threaded into a cone on the top of the barrel at the breech and the vent covered by brass added to the altered flash pan. "SPRING/FIELD/1839" and "eagle/US" marked lock, "1839" dated barrel tang, "P/eagle head/V" proofs at the breech. Includes two US socket bayonets and one leather scabbard.
