Description:

1) Heiberger presentation sword, 39 1/2" OAL, 33 3/4" blade etched "Presented to/Captain Samuel/M. Swigert/U.S.A. by Troop F/2nd U.S. Cavalry", gilt brass hilt, wire wrapped grip, nickel finished scabbard. Online records show Swigert as a graduate of the USMC Class of 1868, retiring in 1903 at the rank of Colonel after suffering a stroke during service in the Philippines. 2) Slauterer officer sword, 37 1/2" OAL, 31" etched blade, brass grip with folding counter-guard, wire wrapped grip, nickel scabbard with gilt accents. Both are good.
