Description:

Originally manufactured in 1861, one of only approximately 2,200 subsequently returned and converted by Colt factory to the Richards-Mason style centerfire cartridge configuration for the U.S. Navy in the mid-1870s. Inspection initials "R.W.M.(Navy anchor)." of U.S. Navy Commander Richard W. Meade underneath the barrel.
