Manufactured in circa 1817 as a patch lock gun, this gun was converted to use conventional percussion caps during its working life by another renowned London gunmaker, Samuel Nock. Rib signed “JOSPH (sic) MANTON. LONDON”. The underside of the barrels with London proof marks and barrel maker’s mark “CL” (for Charles Lancaster). Flat locks each with foliate and serpent engraving, signed “JOSEPH MANTON PATENT”, and gravitating safety stops for the hammer. 13 7/8" LOP. Provenance: The Malcolm King Collection
