Manufactured c. 1870 and incorporating Dougall’s “Lock-Fast” patent action (late variant, patent no. 1128 of May 7, 1860). With working replacement browned Damascus barrels with concave rib signed “E. & G. HIGHAM. 9. RANELAGH ST. LIVERPOOL”. Action with sidelever, signed “J.D. DOUGALL’S PATENT LOCK-FAST” on the underside, and with rebounding back action locks each signed “J.D. DOUGALL”. With light classic English border and scroll engraving throughout. Figured 14 1/2" walnut stock with checkered grip and forearm, the underside of the butt with blank silver oval initial escutcheon. London “Not For Ball” black powder proof marks.
