Description:

Approximately 3,000 early Model 1859 and New Model 1859 carbines with brass furniture were manufactured in the 30786-36000 serial range. The state of Georgia purchased approximately two thirds of them and issued to cavalry and infantry. This example has the scarce first type "single rail" breech block.
