The "1812" dated lock is marked with the rampant lion symbol of the East India Company at the center. "25/LD/E/23" is marked both on the bottom of the trigger guard and ramrod, indicating the pistol was issued to E Company of the 25th Light Dragoons (1804-1819), who spent most of their existence deployed in India.
