Developed in the early 1980s, the M16A2's parameters were mostly driven by requests made by the United States Marine Corps. Later requests would result in the "M16A3" variant, which replaced the signature burst fire mode of the A2 with full automatic capability as seen on this example. This example is patterned after the "commando" variant, and shows a number of pre-A2 features, particularly in the upper receiver group. Includes black nylon sling. Magazine absent.
