Description:

Includes a socket bayonet with metal scabbard. Per consignor: This firearm has the scarce US surcharge on the stock side opposite of the lock It was purchased by noted antique arms dealer Frank Pagano from a Yorktown, VA, family who had owned the item for generations. While it is impossible to conclusively link this item to the Battle of Yorktown, the original location of the gun plus the facts that: 1) the first M1777 muskets left Charleville in 1779 and were supplied to the French troops under Rochambeau just prior to their embarkation; and, 2) Rochambeau’s troops served in the American revolution from 1780 to 1783 and their only significant battle was Yorktown, suggest a Battle of Yorktown association.
