Manufactured c. mid to late-1800s by Unwin & Rodgers of Sheffield, England, 11" OAL, 5 15/16" drop point blade with false edge marked on the left "UNWIN&RODGERS/CELEBRATED/MAKE.SHEFFIELD" parallel to the spine and with "CAST STEEL/BOWIE KNIFE" on the ricasso. German silver oval guard with floral ferrule and an antique ivory relief carved in the form of an alligator. Includes a red leather sheath with gilt border and "N[shield]Y" and hand marked "1870" in black ink. Very good, blade mostly bright with a few scattered patches of light spotting/surface pitting, mostly bright German silver, and a minor stress crack in the top of the grip. Sheath is very good with mild wear.
