Manufactured 1879, back strap inscribed "Metropolitan Police Dept D.C." Likely part of the August 13, 1877 shipment of just over 250 Model 1877s delivered to J.P. Moore's & Sons of New York City for Chief of the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Police Major Thomas P. Morgan. No factory letter to confirm. It has been theorized that factory engraver Cuno Helfricht inscribed the revolvers with the police department marking. Includes an Audley leather holster. Provenance: The Gary Burghoff Collection
