Manufactured c. late 1916 to early 1917. The included factory letter from Roe Clark states that this pistol is not listed in the factory records. Clark goes on to state that he believes this pistol to be a "lunch box special" assembled by an employee due to some absent parts (slide catch) and the unique exposed hammer. This specific pistol is pictured on p. 105 of "Savage Pistols by Bailey Brower Jr., where it is attributed as special order work done by the factory.
