The factory letter lists the revolver .45 caliber with a 4 3/4 inch barrel, blue finish, and rubber grips when part of a 25 gun shipment to Simmons Hardware Co. in St. Louis on September 1, 1897. It was subsequently engraved with near full coverage Cole Agee/Ben Lane style cattle brand engraving and fitted with carved grips with a longhorn steer and "OLD TEX" on each panel.
