The New Haven Arms Co. Volcanic pistols and carbines manufactured in 1857-1860 are important pieces in the evolution of Winchester firearms. An estimated 1,000 total carbines were produced distributed across three different barrel length configurations. Receiver, upper tang, and buttplate heel are factory engraved with large open scrollwork. Number "2715" is stamped on the left side of the lower tang, lower tang screw, a buttplate screw, an upper tang screw, buttplate, and stock heel under the buttplate.
