Believed to be This To Be A Prototype For Pieper Rev. Rifle. Tool Room Model. S/n 1. It was on display at the NRA National Sporting Arms Museum in 2013-2022 and is pictured in the book "Guns of the NRA National Sporting Arms Museum" from 2017 on pg. 198. The included museum display plaque lists it as a "Pieper Style Prototype Revolving Rifle Serial Number 1 7.65 mm, ca. 1896" and notes "This unmarked gun is believed to be a possible tool room prototype for the Pieper carbine, some of which were used by the Mexican mounted police, the 'Rurales.'" As is fairly common on prototypes, the barrel was never rifled. Includes a "LOAN/to/NRA" tag and a "SERIAL/NUMBER/ONE" and "103/SUPICA" marked tag. Provenance: The Supica Collection
