PRF - PROFESSIONALLY REFINISHED OR RESTORED

Manufactured in 1850. This revolver has the distinctive combination of a square-back brass trigger guard and rectangular cylinder stops found only on Second Model Dragoons. Only an estimated 2,700 Second Model Dragoons revolvers were manufactured around 1850 and 1851 compared to 7,000 of the First Model Dragoons and 10,500 Third Model Dragoons. The top flat of the barrel is marked "-ADDRESS SAML COLT NEW-YORK CITY-" reading toward the breech. The left side of the frame is marked "COLTS/PATENT/US". There is a small "G" below the serial number on the trigger guard and an "H" on the top of the back strap. The re-engraved cylinder has the Ranger and Indian fight scene with the "US DRAGOONS/COLT'S PATENT" legend and clear serial number in the center. The complete matching serial number is stamped on the barrel lug, frame, cylinder, arbor pin, trigger guard, loading lever, wedge and back strap. Fitted with a smooth one piece walnut grip. Initials "GWG" inscribed on the butt of the backstrap.
