Reportedly, Sharps only manufactured 46 Model 1877 Long Range No. 1 rifles and 52 No. 2 rifles between January 1877 to March 1879 (reference pg. 251 of "Sharps Firearms" by Frank Sellers). "Old Reliable" and "SHARPS RIFLE CO. BRIDGEPORT, CONN." on top of the barrel, modern globe front sight with spirit level, modern long range Vernier peep sight. Serial number "160278" marked on top of the receiver tang (hidden under peep sight) and underside of the barrel.
