This is the shorter carbine variant or "cavalry rifle" variant of the famous early 19th century Baker rifle with a swivel mounted ramrod, sling bar, safety on the lock, and no provisions for a bayonet. Includes a leather patched round ball in the patchbox. Surplus Baker rifles are known to have been used by the Mexican military, including at the Battle of the Alamo.
