Manufactured 1878 per Madis, period installed Springfield Trapdoor folding ladder rear sight. Included Cody Firearms Museum records request lists the rifle with an octagon barrel and set trigger when received at the warehouse on 7 April 1879 and shipped on 18 August 1879 in order number 16603.

Fair overall with dark brown patina, widespread mild to moderate pitting/oxidation, the wood having minor handling marks and edge chips scattered throughout. Mechanically fine.
