Collector's Lot of Mid 19th Century Cartographer's Exploration Instruments

1) An Exploration Size Pantograph. The instrument is within the original shaped and dovetailed mahogany case, (19.5" long with brass hooks). The brass instrument, used to trace and draw to varied proportion, is complete with anchor and tracing stylus and a set of four casters. The brass rails are engraved and graduated to proportions with adjustable clamps for the tracing stylus and pen. The exploration size pantograph is a smaller and more portable example of the more common full-size pantograph. 2) A Sharkskin Cased Drawing Instrument Set signed and dated "George Rutter, Jan 1st 1847" including two rulers, a proportional scale and a sector rule used for trigonometric calculations, a brass protractor, and drawing instruments including dividers, dotting pen and various stylus attachments.

ConditionBoth are fine with brass components showing attractively aged patina, some light handling wear, and the cases showing some minor handling/storage wear.
