This musket resembled a Brown Bess musket at first glance but contains 18th century components of mixed origins. Muskets built from parts on hand are known to have been used by the Patriots during the American Revolution, and the consignor attributed this musket as a "Colonial American semi-military or dual-purpose flintlock musket, ca. 1720-50." It has a lock from an early Brown Bess musket, brass lock screw washers and ramrod pipes, iron forend band as well as trigger guard and buttplate, and smoothbore barrel with a dovetailed brass blade front sight.

Rating Definition:

Good with gray and brown patina, moderate pitting, worn markings, and refinished stock with some chips and cracks. Mechanically fine.
