Type: Machine gun
Gauge: 30 M1 Carbine
Barrel: 18 inch round
Finish: parkerized
Grip:
Stock: walnut
Item Views: 3021
Item Interest: Very Active
Serial Number:
Class: Class III
Description:

With sling, oiler, flash hider, transfer papers. Magazine absent. Introduced late in World War II, the M2 Carbine was designed to work both as a factory-made machine gun as well as an armorer upgrade to the extant M1 carbine; this flexibility allowed armorers and arsenals to rapidly swap M1 and M2 components as needed to fulfill TOE requirements. This example was at some point repaired or overhauled by Rock Island Armory of Geneseo, Illinois. "RIA" marked blade front and illegibly marked adjustable rear sights, Inland "4-44" barrel with "S.A." marked M3 flash hider "AI" type III barrel band, and an arsenal style overstamp "M2" model marking on the receiver ring. Fitted with an "AI" marked round bolt, Inland milled trigger housing, unmarked hammer and selector switch, "HSA" operating rod, "CM" flip safety and unmarked M2 magazine catch, with the other internal components unmarked. Installed in an unmarked low wood pistol grip stock modified to accept the selector switch, with an "IO" marked 4-rivet upper handguard, with a green canvas sling. Magazine absent.

Rating Definition:

Fine as refurbished, upgraded to full auto with 95% plus arsenal quality parkerized finish, showing mild edge wear and handling marks. The stock is very good, with minor chipping around the recoil plate and bedding material applied to the selector cutout. Mechanically excellent. NOTE: This weapon is a National Firearms Act (NFA), fully transferable Class 3, which is registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, (BATFE) under the provisions of 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 479.
