Factory letter states rifle was received in the warehouse on September 3, 1895 and shipped on September 5 with an octagon barrel in .38-55 caliber and plain trigger. Later returned to factory as Winchester factory proofs are stamped on the barrel and receiver at the breech.

Fine as factory rebarreled with remaining original finish mostly on barrel and magazine, chips on forearm and at upper tang, some minor handling marks on wood. Mechanically excellent.
