Description:

John Miles of Northern Liberties, Philadelphia, PA, had contracts for 2,000 muskets in 1798 and 1801. "MILES/CP" marked lock and "P" and "CP" marked barrel.

Rating Definition:

Fair as reconverted and re-assembled with dark brown, moderate pitting, and general moderate wear including some cracks and repairs in the stock. Mechanically fine.

The consignor attributed it to William Rhodes and William Tyler of Providence, Rhode Island, who had a contract for 2,000 muskets and delivered 950 by 1801. "US" marked lock, "TC" marked trigger plate, and "JS", "eagle head/CT", "V", and clover marked barrel.

Rating Definition:

Good with gray and brown patina, pitting, moderate wear, and cracks and chips in the stock. Mechanically fine.
