Description:

Manufactured during the Imperial World War I era as a Gewehr 98 rifle, and subsequently overhauled to K98k configuration with a "short rail" for scope mounting. The SS are known to have used a number of overhauled Imperial and Weimar weapons to meet their armament needs, due to competitive pressure from the Heer. Imperial eagle stamp on the left side of the receiver ring with "crown/Gothic letter" proofs on the right and no visible markings on top, the left breech of the barrel is stamped with "SS/2" sig runes over a totenkopf/death's head, and "S/42" depot rework markings on the rear sight base. Matching visible serial numbers on various components (some components renumbered to match). The scope has an added number to match the rifle, with no other visible markings beside the adjustment notches, and is fitted with a rubber eye piece.

Rating Definition:

Very good as professionally restored/converted back to World War II configuration, with scattered patches of light pitting and freckling. Stock is very good as sanded and re-oiled, with scattered scratches and dents, and a crack visible below the right of the receiver ring. Mechanically excellent. Scope is fine with clear optics.
