Rare Early Production Two-Digit Serial Number Patent Arms Manufacturing Co. "Colt Paterson" Percussion Revolving Carbine

Only approximately 950 of these carbines were manufactured c. 1838-1841, and most of these had the shorter 24 inch barrels. These early carbines without loading levers are believed to be the pattern purchased for the navy of the Republic of Texas in 1839. These smoothbore carbines are identified as .525 caliber (approximately 32 bore). The matching serial number "63" was found located on the barrel lug, "squareback" cylinder, and cylinder turning ring. The wedge is numbered "59". Provenance: The Charles Marx Collection

ConditionGood with gray and brown patina, light oxidation, repaired arbor, worn markings, some refinished blue, and refinished replacement stock with crisp checkering. Mechanically fine.
