Desirable 10 Gauge Colt Deluxe Model 1855 Percussion Revolving Shotgun

These 10 gauge shotguns utilized a larger frame than any other variation in the Model 1855 series making them in effect their own special model. Only an estimated 600 of these rare large frame 10 gauge (.75 caliber) revolving shotguns were manufactured c.1860-1863. Their survival rate is also low, making these shotguns particularly scarce. The matching serial number "988" is marked on the barrel, forearm, frame, and toe of the buttplate. Provenance: The Charles Marx Collection

ConditionVery good with some original blue finish, dark brown patina, oxidation, pitting, moderate overall wear, attractive figure on the butt, repairs in the wrist, and a few cracks in the wood. Mechanically functions although the cylinder does not rotate.
