A) Very Scarce U.S. Springfield Model 1898 Krag-Jorgensen .22 Gallery Practice Training Rifle

Reportedly, 841 Model 1898 Krag .22 caliber Gallery Practice rifles manufactured by Springfield Armory c. 1906-1907, typically witnessed with serial numbers nearby this example offered. The rifle has the distinctive altered receiver side, .22 caliber barrel, and chamber with an auxiliary extractor (absent) that is pulled out by the normal bolt extractor and snaps back when the bolt is fully opened. The receiver is marked with "CAL./.22" at the rear. Boxed script cartouche stamped on the left wrist of the stock.

ConditionGood with some of the original finish, smooth gray and brown patina, and scattered spotting. Stock is fair, with a large separated split in the wrist area, an absent chipped section ahead of the bolt recess area, and scattered dents and scratches. Absent front and rear sling swivels, absent rear trigger guard screw, absent front barrel band retaining screw, absent auxiliary extractor in the chamber area, absent bolt assembly. Mechanically needs work.

ConditionGood with traces of original finish, smooth gray and brown patina, and scattered spotting. Stock is also good as sanded and re-oiled, with scattered dents and scratches, an absent section ahead of the bolt recess area, and a few minor cracks. Mechanically fine.
