A) Springfield "Model 1877" Transitional Trapdoor Rifle

Bore Condition: The bore is partially darkened with distinct rifling.
Description:

Manufactured c. 1877-1878. Lightly visible oval script "ESA/1877" cartouche stamped on the left stock wrist. "14" stamped on top of the buttstock, with "NATIONAL" and four illegible letters following stamped on the left of the buttstock, possibly a National Guard marking.

Rating Definition:

Very good with some original finish, smooth brown and gray patina, scattered corrosion and pitting. Stock is good as re-oiled, with numerous scattered dents, scuffs, scratches, and some pin-prick holes concentrated on the right of the buttstock. Absent rear sight. Mechanically excellent.

Manufactured in 1889. Boxed script "SWP/1889" cartouche stamped on the left stock wrist.

Rating Definition:

Very good with some original finish, smooth brown patina and scattered freckling, and scattered dings concentrated on the left muzzle end of the barrel. Stock is good as re-oiled, with a split in the wrist, numerous scattered dents and scratches, and a crisp cartouche. Mechanically excellent.
