Description:

Manufactured c. 1830s-1850s. The barrel is signed "J Marker" on top. The mark is similar to another signed "James Marker" sold by Rock Island Auction Co. in 2017.

Rating Definition:

Good with dark brown patina, oxidation, pitting, moderate overall wear, and a refinished stock with deep scrapes and some cracks, chips, and repairs. Mechanically needs work.

Bore Condition: The bore is dark and has oxidation/pitting and visible rifling.
Description:

"ASHMORE" marked lock. One of the collection tags suggests it may have been made in Milton, PA, by Filman, and the rifle does bear similarities with those identified as by William Filman active c. 1820-1860.

Rating Definition:

Good as restored with dark blue-brown on the barrel and lock, oxidation and pitting from corrosive caps at the breech and lock, aged patina on the mounts, spliced forend, and cracks and repairs in the butt and mounts. Mechanically fine.
