A) French Model 1822 Percussion Conversion Musket

Description:

Arsenal updated from flintlock to percussion and fitted with a blade front sight and ladder rear sight. Initials "AJ" carved on the bottom of the stock beneath the lock.

Rating Definition:

Good as arsenal converted and subsequently refinished, with brown patina, scattered pitting and wear. Stock is also good with numerous scattered dents, scratches, scuffs and cracks. Hammer does not remain cocked, non-functional, mechanically needs work.

Illegible worn lock maker marking above "WARRANTED", with no visible barrel markings.

Rating Definition:

Fair as refinished/assembled, with brown patina, scattered pitting and wear. Stock is also fair as sanded and re-oiled, with a modified comb area, and numerous scattered dents, scratches, cracks and chips. Broken/absent rear section of the lower tang, absent barrel retaining screw with loose barrel, hammer does not remain cocked, non-functional, mechanically needs work.
