Description:

1) Signed Japanese sword, 38" OAL, 27" blade with straight hamon, two-piece silver and copper habaki, iron tsuba with gilt ho-oh bird and paulownia flower decoration, iron fittings, gilt dragon and sword themed menuki, and a leather wrapped saya. Two mekugi-ana are present on the tang, roughly 3 inches apart, with a six figure signature on the left side. Consignor statements attribute the sword to a smith of the Hizen Tadayoshi school. 2) Signed Japanese sword, 38" OAL, 27" blade with wavy hamon, silver habaki, round iron tsuba with gold accented leaf decoration, gilt accented floral themed decoration, and a speckled lacquer finished saya. One mekugi-ana, six-figure signature on the left side of the tang.

Rating Definition:

1) Very good, with some edge nicks, spotting and wear on the blade. The fittings are fair, with some tearing of the leather on the saya. 2) Good, with the blade showing some nicks, skin splits, and a strong hamon, mild wear on the hilt, and a rough saya,
