Description:

Likely manufactured in the mid-19th century, this is a very attractive and possibly unique copy of a Sharps four-barrel pepperbox pistol. The most distinct feature of this pepperbox is the rotary underlever barrel latch, reminiscent of some shotguns of the era, which allows the barrel group to tip upward at the rear for loading/unloading when rotated. The Sharps pattern hammer has a rotating firing pin and there is an ejector/cleaning rod secured under the barrels in a hole in the barrel lug. The frame is German silver with a bag shaped grip, and it is fitted with a pair of very finely figured walnut grips.

Rating Definition:

Very good, with much of the original blue on the barrels and the German silver mostly bright, a few scattered patches of light pitting, a few minor dings, and some minor handling marks on the grips. Mechanically excellent.
