Bore Condition: The bore is partially darkened with distinct rifling.
Description:

Manufactured c. 1863-1865. Three-line Sharps address and "NEW MODEL 1863" marked on top of the barrel, "H.D.H" on the left breech of the barrel, single letter inspection initials on some components, "HHH" on the saddle bar plate, and two bordered script "TWR" (Thomas W. Russell) inspection cartouches stamped on the left stock wrist. Matching serial number marked on the receiver tang and bottom of the barrel.

Rating Definition:

Good, with traces of original finish in protected areas, smooth gray patina, scattered freckling and light pitting, with defined markings in the metal. Wood is also good as re-oiled, with numerous scattered dents, scratches and scuffs characteristic of period Civil War use, and defined cartouche stamps. Absent rear sight, absent saddle ring. Some absent primer mechanism components, otherwise mechanically fine.
